Character Name: Lisa Snart / Golden Glider
Series: DC: The Flash
Timeline: Family of Rogues
Canon Resource Link: Lisa Snart Wikia
Character History:
Lisa was born into a criminal family. Her father was abusive, physically and mentally under the guise of 'teaching' her. Her grandfather used to take them to a diner across from the Central City Precinct where her older brother, Leonard, got to know the ins and outs of the police force and how they responded to criminal activity. She was eventually raised by her brother, during which time, their father was arrested for attempting to steal a valuable emerald (in the original timeline). In the secondary timeline created by Leonard, Len stole the emerald to prevent his father from going to jail, but his father was arrested when he tried to sell the stolen emerald, having the same result. Her father started his abuse when she was seven, and it never stopped. She tells Cisco that, when she was eight, she found out that a bottle hurts worse than a fist. She insists that if it weren't for Leonard raising her, she would've turned out a lot worse than she did. She feels like she owes Leonard for protecting her from their father.
"I didn't get this scar being a criminal. I got it being a daughter."
Her first appearance in canon is brief. Leonard is notorious for planning everything down to the last second. On an armoured transport vehicle to Iron Heights, Lisa takes out the transport and busts her brother and Mick out of the van. She wants to spend more time with her brother, and starts joining him on their cons. She dons a blonde wig and flirts with Cisco to get him away from Barry. She lures him back to a house they're squatting in so Leonard can capture him and force him to make/repair their Cold and Heat guns. Afterwards, Lisa says she needs to be able to defend herself too. So Len made Cisco create a gun just for her to fit her personality. Thus, her Gold gun is born.
"Make me something pretty and toxic. Like me. How about something with... Gold?"
Cisco and his brother go after Mick in an escape attempt and the hothead starts pummelling them. Lisa cuts in when Len tries to break up the fight, telling Mick they need them, and she pulls Mick off Cisco, telling him to eat something. She also joins her brother in his deal with Flash to save the Meta-Humans and transport them safely out of town so they can't hurt anyone. She continues to flirt with Cisco, genuinely finding interest in him for his intelligence. She's not shy about it, either. She even upsets Dr. Snow with the news that they'd kissed. He denies her advances, and she responds with "a girl can hope" before walking away, leaving him baffled.
"Oh! You were right, Lenny. She is very uptight."
She reveals that she has a Class A CDL, and is able to drive the large truck that will be hauling the Metas while her brother and Flash take up security detail and clearing the roads. While in the truck cab with Cisco, she asks him why he hadn't given her a code name. She's jealous of her brother's Captain Cold title, given to him by Cisco. She sweet talks him into a code name, becoming the Golden Glider. They sabotage the transport and let the Metas escape. She pulls her gun on the guy about to use his powers on her brother. Before leaving with Len, she flirtatiously says goodbye to Cisco.
"Smart is sexy, Cisco."
Lis seeks out the Flash gang to ask them for their help. She's distraught and laying it on think to get them to help. When Cisco threatens to call the Flash, she tells him to do it and stands there, waiting. Her brother was kidnapped and it terrified her. She pouts childishly when they try to refuse her, and nearly breaks down to tears until they do. She says someone grabbed Lenny and hit her in the head, knocking her out. When Barry goes to Leonard to ask if he's okay, he finds out that he's working with her father. She insists that that is impossible. They both hate him for what he did to them as kids. She says if he's working with Lewis, he's in a lot of danger. Snow calls her a criminal and she reveals the scar across the crook of her neck where her father hit her with a broken bottle. She then runs off, getting emotional.
"You have to believe me, Lenny would never work with him. He's a bad guy!"
Cisco finds her and they share a moment, talking about her past. After that, they find out that Lewis implanted a bomb in Lisa's neck that he'd detonate if Leonard didn't do as he said. She keeps herself as composed as she can, but puts her life and trust in Cisco's hands while Barry tries again to go help Len. They try a few ideas to remove the bomb, realising that once it comes in contact with air, it will detonate, leaving them with very few options. In the end, he uses some kind of airgun to suck it out of her neck and keep it contained. When Barry gives Len the news that Lisa is safe, he kills Lewis for what he did to Lisa and ends up going to prison. Despite that, Lisa is grateful for team Flash saving hers and Leonard's lives. She tells Cisco that he was there for her and possibly her only real friend in the world. They share another kiss and she leaves with yet another flirty goodbye.
"Lenny practically raised me. If it weren't for him, I would've turned out a lot worse. I know, how could I be any worse?"
At some point in time, or rather, a new timeline, Lisa is kidnapped by the Pilgrim and used as leverage against the Legends team. It's unknown if she even remembers this or how it played out with the kidnapping.
"He may be a jerk brother, but he's the only jerk brother I've got. He protected me. Now it's my turn."
Abilities/Special Powers:
Lisa's human. She's good with a gun, she can lay the charm on thick, and she wants to be a good criminal. So, pretty much, decent marksmanship and manipulation are her abilities but she has no special powers.
She does, however, possess a gun built by Cisco that turns anything its beam hits into melted, globby gold-looking metal.
Third-Person Sample:
Lisa found herself walking out into the garden, quarter after midnight, taking in the silence and cool air. Most of her life existed at night, anyway. Growing up in a criminal family did that to you, but that wasn't a problem. She needed time to think. It wasn't so much that she didn't like the idea of being here with Leonard, Mick, and Cisco. As a matter of fact, she'd been all ready to bust out of here with them, but now that she's heard the truth... It was probably an accident, in all honesty. It shouldn't have slipped out, but now, all she could do was dwell on it. If they got out, if they made it home, she'd have to go home without him.
Tears welled in Lisa's eyes as she angrily stormed through the garden, shooting the first tree she came across with the Gold Gun. She coated it from the ground up to every last branch before the charge in her gun gave out and she was left staring angrily at the beautiful piece of work. It shimmered and glinted in the moon and starlight. She dropped the gun and leaned her back against the tree, sliding down to sit at its base. She let her head drop to her knees as she tried not to completely fall apart. She couldn't go back. She wouldn't. If staying in this free-range cage was the alternative to returning to a future without her brother, then she might as well make a home here.
Lisa finally let her head tip back against the tree, tears rolling down her cheeks. She quickly swiped them away and looked up through the glittering leaves at the sky. Was it too stupid to wish upon a star right now? She'd wish that Lenny never took that stupid gig. She'd wish that he never went to meet that weird guy. She'd wish that... she'd wish that she'd gone with him. Or that she'd told him he wasn't just some jerk brother. He was the best thing to happen to her. She wouldn't change anything in their past to keep what they had. But she knew wishing he never went on that journey was selfish of her, and she didn't deny she was selfish. She just wished he would've come home from that trip. Alive. With Mick.
So right now, he was probably looking for her. Right now, he probably knew she found out. And right now, he was probably more than a little alarmed that she hadn't sought him out. To yell. To cry. She was probably worrying him right now. And right now, that was the last thing she wanted to do. So, she picked herself up and scooped up her gun. She made her way back to the mansion and to the second floor, knocking lightly on his door.
First-Person Sample:
I'm Lisa Snart and I'm the new girl in town. [See that smile? It's charming, right? It's also not as innocent as it looks.]
I hear this place doesn't really have a monetary system, which is gonna take a bit of getting used to. [For someone who grew up in a family of criminals, yes. It's weird.] And okay, the magic mansion is pretty sweet. But a girl just sometimes needs to go to the mall or a club. I don't mean because I need things, or that I have money burning a hole in my pocket, but it's just a thing. So, while I was trying to find the perfect dress,
[The camera is left on her dresser as she steps back to show the golden dress she settled on.]
it occurred to me that I don't have anywhere to wear it. I hear there's a ballroom here. Not that I've ever seen a ballroom before, but that sounds like the perfect place to hold a party. And if a certain dark-haired brainiac wants to take me to the party, I'll be waiting right here for him. [She winks at the camera.] Eight o'clock sharp. And as a bonus, I expect to see my two favourite brothers in crime there as well.
[She blows a kiss at the screen before ending the feed.]
